Every pet deserves a good life

We likely can agree that all pets deserve a good life full of love, and lots of snuggles. That’s why the Eastmark Community Life Team is honored to team up with the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) as the inaugural Eastmark Cares philanthropic partner. For 60 years, AHS has campaigned for compassion and kindness toward animals. Every day AHS works to safeguard, rescue, shelter, heal, adopt and advocate for animals in need.

This is pretty neat. On Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m., AHS is inviting Eastmark residents to come on down to the Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion in Phoenix for a behind-the-scenes tour, including a guided walk through the shelter and program areas. Log in to Eastmark.com to sign up.

AHS has the only radio-equipped emergency ambulance fleet for sick and injured stray animals in the Valley. A team of Emergency Animal Medical Technicians provide on-the-scene care before transporting distressed animals to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital. The team responds to more than 10,000 animal rescues and investigations each year! If you see an animal in distress or suspect animal abuse or neglect, call 602-997-7585, extension 2073. For abuse cases, you can also submit an online form.

AHS also supports pet owners. Trained professionals at the Pet Resource Center advise struggling owners who may be looking to surrender their pet by offering resources and options (like training classes and medical care) to help them keep their furry companion in their home. This resource has helped decrease the euthanasia rate by 80 percent and slow the animal intake rate by 55 percent over the past three years.

If you’re looking to bring home a furry family member, AHS has breeds of all sizes, temperaments and energy levels. You can visit one of four adoption locations in Phoenix, scroll through an online adoption database, or catch the half hour “Pets on Parade” airing every Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on KTVK Channel 3 to see who’s ready for a home.

You’ve also got to check out www.azhumane.org for a list of all the services offered through AHS. And if you’d like more info on the Eastmark Cares initiative, contact the Community Life Team.
