The Community Life Team and alumni of Eastmark Leadership Class 1 welcomed 20 residents to Class 2 on Feb. 18.
Eastmark Leadership is an initiative launched in 2015 to provide residents a valuable opportunity to engage with one another and their community in an enriching way. The goal of the 10-month program is to establish a strong foundation and tradition for resident leadership now and into the future.
Residents who particpate in the program more fully experience the community life elements of Eastmark and explore their own values as a person and as a leader. But the most important benefit of participating are the impactful friendships that form among neighbors.
The core program focuses on personal leadership development; gaining a deeper understanding of the Eastmark vision and community plan; learning about economic development strategies in the East Valley; and exploring other current issues that impact Eastmark, the region, and the state. Additional special activities offer opportunities to experience points of pride in our community and be introduced to leaders in a variety of public, non-profit, education, and business arenas.
The Eastmark Leadership experience culminates in a class project that is organized and executed by the program participants. The Class 1 project is the installation of a flag pole and honors plaza in Anitole Square, one of Eastmark’s neighborhood parks. The community is invited to support the project by purchasing a commorative brick paver to be displayed in the park.
