Eastmark is home to the FIT4MOM: Queen Creek/San Tan Valley. I sat down with Jamie Breaux, owner and instructor to learn more. Jamie has held FIT4MOM programs at Eastmark for one year.
How did you get started with FIT4MOM?
JB: I was a new mom to my first born and struggled with getting out of the house and being active. I hated leaving my baby in the daycare at the gym. Looking back, I think I struggled with postpartum. Walking and running became the extent of my workout. After my second child was born May 2013, I realized I had to do something. I came across the Stroller Strides program and knew it was everything I had been looking for and had to get involved. We had recently moved to Queen Creek and they didn’t have a FIT4MOM program so I started one!
What is FIT4MOM?
JB: FIT4MOM is the country’s largest fitness program for moms offering pre and post-natal fitness classes for every stage of motherhood.
We will help moms achieve their ultimate potential, both physically and emotionally.
We will offer support and education for moms.
We will inspire moms to reach optimal health and well being.
We will inspire children to emulate their moms and make fitness a part of their lives.
What are the different programs offered?
• Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies/children. It includes power walking and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. It’s a great workout for any level of exerciser. No baby sitter needed, it’s entertaining for the kids! You and your child can enjoy the class together. Stroller Strides instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to entertain and engage baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as mom.
• Fit4Baby® is a program designed to strengthen the body for all the changes it will experience during pregnancy. These classes exclusively focus on pregnant moms! Classes are interval based, combining elements of strength training, cardiovascular exercises and stretching and balancing exercises
• Stroller Barre® is a unique blend of ballet, Pilates, barre, yoga and stroller-based exercises designed to help moms build strength and muscle tone and improve posture. Created by a mom who was formerly a professional ballerina, this class incorporates prenatal and postnatal training and yields amazing results in an exciting, fun format. Classes are focused on strengthening and creating an ideal length/tension relationship in all the postural muscles, creating a taller, leaner-looking mommy!
• Body Back® is a results-based workout designed for moms who want their body back, whether they just had a baby or their last child was born twenty years ago! Classes are high-intensity workouts.
We also have Our Village.
What is Our Village?
JB: Our Village supports the moms. Each month activities are scheduled. We do things like Moms Night Out, playdates, book clubs, family events, classes, meet ups, and more.
We also have crafts right after some of the classes. Our Village is open to anyone, you don’t need to be a current class member.
Do you have any tips for moms getting back into shape?
JB: Start easy and start slow. Don’t be hard on yourself and please don’t compare yourself to others. Work at your own pace. Just get out and try.
Is there anything you want to share about FIT4MOM?
JB: My goal is for every mom to have the opportunity for friendship and fitness at any stage of motherhood and any level of fitness. We are here to support you. FIT4MOM helps moms achieve their potential- physically and emotionally while offering support and education. It also helps to inspire our children to make fitness a fun part of their lives. We have some amazing women in our programs.
