Independence Day celebrations date back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence and two days later its delegates declared sovereignty from Great Britain and adopted the Declaration of Independence.
On that day a new tradition was born. July 4th is celebrated as the birth of American independence with patriotic festivities including fireworks, parades, concerts, family gatherings and barbecues.
Eastmark has its own unique traditions to celebrate our independence. Inspired by the Hunter family, our community decorates the edges of each Neighborhood park with U.S. flags. Home to many veterans, active service members, and first responders, Eastmark is proud of its patriotism. Over 1,500 flags will be placed in each park beginning July 2nd.
Check out the Hunter Family video and learn more about this wonderful tradition:
On the morning of July 4th, residents will gather for their second Independence Day Celebration. We’ll share a waffle breakfast, water games, bike decorating contest, patriotic performance, and messages of thanks to active U.S. service members.
For those residents that want to catch some fireworks, there are several great shows close to our community to enjoy:
