Are you tough enough? That’s the question I kept asking myself. Especially when I heard the news that Tough Mudder was changing up most of their obstacles in 2015. Translation: Tough Mudder is going to be even tougher this year. I know, hard to imagine.
Now, I’m a Mudder veteran. I was part of last year’s Eastmark Tough Mudder team. The exhilarating experience was honestly one of the highlights of my year. How could I not come back for more? Even better, I’d become a Legionnaire. That 2x green band was mine.
Mudder Legion is the official organization of multi-mudders. Legionnaires, have completed at least two Tough Mudders. In recognition of this accomplishment, you get a special 2x green headband at the finish line. Even better, Legionnaire status allows you to bypass the notorious and much feared Electroshock Therapy. In sum, you can’t join Mudder Legion, you have to earn it.
We came, we got muddy, we conquered! This year’s Tough Mudder did prove to be tougher than last year. The course tested our physical ability, and certainly our mental strength.

Sure, it wasn’t always pretty and we had our share of challenges: our team was small in number with several first time Mudders in our ranks. We lost our GoPro at the first obstacle Arctic Enema.
But prevail we did! Another interesting fact about our team is that we had 4 sets of spouses. Going through a Tough Mudder is the ultimate team builder, and experiencing a Tough Mudder with your spouse is the ultimate bond. There were times I had serious doubts about my ability, but my faith was immediately restored when I saw that my husband had my back, literally and figuratively.
Tough Mudder is not about personal achievement. It’s about teamwork, camaraderie and mental grit. With some training and preparation, you too can compete.
I’m already thinking about next year and have even started recruiting. So, are you tough enough?
