The first ten acres of the Eastmark Great Park opens to the public this Saturday with a large scale celebration in the new DMB community. Planned to stretch more than 1.5 miles through the Eastmark community, the planning team drew their inspiration for this public space from the country’s most iconic parks.
The father of American landscape architecture, Fredrick Olmstead, created large scale parks to reflect the interests of its visitors and to create a space for reflection and energy. Each intimate setting within the park served a specific purpose. The design of the built environments and the landscape were all intentional. The result is a destination that conveys a simple connection to nature, with personalized settings that visitors connect to.
His approach and designs inspired the Eastmark land planning and landscape architecture teams. They set out to create a large scale park with unique vignettes of interest that would draw kids together, create relaxation and exploration points and most importantly create memories.
To ignite that memory-making, Eastmark will be hosting its first events in the Great Park this Saturday at the Grand Opening event. Families can join us at the lake to watch the model yacht club members sail their vessels. Music will fill the park as a DJ spins for the crowds. And families can take their turn starring in the Eastmark ad – and take a photo home with them! Some of the East Valley’s favorite food trucks will be on hand for visitors who want to create their first picnic at the Great Park.
This public park will soon be home to special events, concerts and more! We are looking forward to hosting families from around the region at Mesa’s newest public park!
Welcome to Eastmark
