Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Tempe continue to have some of the most desirable neighborhoods for families, retirees and students. An emphasis on high-performing schools and the attraction of a diverse set of higher-education opportunities will continue to attract people here.

After a tough couple of years for the real-estate industry, the Southeast Valley is recovering faster than most of the metro area. During the past 12 months, this area has seen a 21.9 percent increase in price for resale homes.

The employment base in the Southeast Valley creates a much higher median income per resident ($82,896) than many other areas in the Valley, which has resulted in a much more active housing market.

One of the key components to sustaining this positive news is the realization of the vision for the development of the Gateway region. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport’s expansion and surrounding development will positively impact every part of the region.

Over the past 10 years, East Valley Partnership, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Mesa and others have crafted a compelling vision around a thriving commercial airport complemented by businesses that support the region’s base industries.
