The Eastmark Great Park is expanding soon – look out for the Orange Monster!

September 2013 | Related Categories: Construction | Eastmark Spotlights | What's New

The Eastmark Great Park™ will soon start Phase II development — an additional 4.5 acres of the planned 106-acre park.

This next phase includes an Event Pavilion, restrooms, play equipment and a unique three-quarter acre urban sculpture/play structure dubbed the “Orange Monster.” This one-of-a-kind play structure will serve as both an outdoor play and exercise area for the visitors of the Eastmark Great Park.

Designs for the Orange Monster was inspired by kids, for kids. DMB held a children’s workshop, drawing upon children’s ideas for an ideal urban sculpture/play area.  The Orange Monster will consist of two tandem pipe sculptures connected by exercise and play netting, and the entire structure will cover almost half an acre. As the pipe sculpture netting twists and turns, it creates an exercise course of climbing challenges that begin at the ground and rise to over nine feet in height. The structure will also include fitness challenges for both kids and adults and will be augmented by standard play equipment including swings, slides, and a climbing apparatus. The Orange Monster is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2014*.

Phase II of the Eastmark Great Park also includes the development of a large Event Pavilion, designed for large and small programs, including concerts and other entertainment. The pavilion is designed to hold up to 8,000 people and includes a covered Ramada. Construction for these structures will break ground in late 2013 with an estimated completion date in early 2014*.

*Construction completion dates subject to change.
